Wow, more than 12,000 people signed the petition before yesterday’s deadline, with nearly 400 from Noordhoek. Thank you!
As you may have seen/heard in the news, the Mayor made some last minute changes to the draft budget. We are convinced that this petition, which was quoted many times in news articles, contributed to the pressure that led to these changes.
Cape Town Collective Ratepayers Association (CTCRA—a group of 45 ratepayer organisations across Cape Town, of which NRPA is a founding member) has submitted your signatures to the City of Cape Town before the deadline. As CTCRA, we have also requested to meet the Mayor and discuss the arguments listed in the petition to see if there is a way to change the burden on ratepayers.
