Café Roux is hosting a fantastic village market called Outdoor Essentials Shopping @ Café Roux every Saturday from 08h00 to 12h00, weather permitting.
Head down there to peruse the fresh produce stalls, support local businesses and listen to live music.
Bern Le Roux, co-owner of Café Roux says, “There was a fantastic vibe at the first market we held last weekend. It’s a fun way to spend Saturday morning, especially during these extraordinary times. Of course, we’re asking everyone to please adhere the social distancing regulations and to wear a mask at all times.”
Noordhoek Ratepayers Association (NRPA) Chairperson, Brad Bing, says, “It’s great to be able to buy such a range of excellent local produce in this wonderful market atmosphere. Even with the emphasis on social distancing, this is a lovely morning out, a place to see old friends and stock up for the week.”
Some of the stalls at the market are: Richard Bosman quality cured meats, local cheeses, Su-so pre-made soups, Foodbarn breads & bakes, The Biltong Lady, Metro Organics and Bees ’n Boots doing fresh veg and Go Greenhouse detergents, Southern Cross fresh seafood (fish/ mussels/prawns/ calamari/ oysters etc), All Things Earthly stocking Farmer Angus meats, free range eggs, kimchi, olive oils, essential body products, masks, CBD products, braai wood and Village Lane Wines.
You can also enjoy local musician, Dan Green, busking on his guitar to raise money for the Café Roux soup kitchen.
Bing says, “This market is exactly the sort of venture the NRPA promotes and hopes residents will support. It aligns with the 2030 Vision for Noordhoek (established through a Shared Process with interested residents) that we are working towards. One of the goals of this vision is to promote a circular economy. This means a self-sustaining economy in a sustainable valley, where locals buy local produce and support local businesses because this is good for the environment and good for our valley.”
