NRPA has received planning application documents from Evergreen for the Phase 8 extension (erf 3823-RE) of Lake Michelle:

  1. For the rezoning of the property from Limited Use Zone LU to General Residential Subzone GR2 to permit the establishment of a retirement village comprising 80 residential units.
  2. For consent to permit utility services.
  3. For a departure relating to a street boundary building line from Noordhoek Main Road. 

 

This application follows the environmental approval granted by the Provincial Environmental Authorities (DEADP). NRPA, together with NEAG, objected to the environmental application on the grounds that we are of the opinion that the salt marshes that are in the area should be protected without development. Given that DEADP has now approved the development on environmental grounds (with fewer units than applied for), it is now important that residents review the documents and submit comments if they feel that this development should not go ahead. NRPA will be reviewing the documents to determine its position.
The deadline for comments is 21 August 2023.
