Dear NRPA Member
In order to satisfy SARS requirements for Income Tax exemption, the NRPA is required to amend its constitution to reflect certain governing statements in relation to its income, distribution of funds and office-bearers. The Exco engaged legal counsel (ENSAfrica) to draft the amendments to the constitution which will be tabled at the Annual General Meeting on 8 June 2022 for acceptance by the members present. According to the constitution:
”Any amendments to this Constitution must be passed by a majority of at least two-thirds (2/3) of members with voting rights present at a General Meeting of the Association.”
Furthermore,
“At least ten percent (10%) of members present in person shall constitute a quorum for a meeting.” This translates to a minimum of 23 members based on current eligible membership.
Please review the changes (highlighted in green) in preparation for the meeting. They will be summarised again during the meeting itself. If you have any questions, please direct them to treasurer@nrpa.org.za.
